Air Source
What is Air Source and how does it work?
Air Source heating is an alternative renewable to Ground Source. Air Source heating has not historically been as efficient as Ground Source heating, but operates by the same principal of extracting the heat from the air, and using the same principals as a fridge in reverse providing hot water to heat your home.
The pumps are powered by electricity and for every KW they use, the heat pumps can produce up to 4.5KW of free heat depending upon outside air Temperature. Air source heat pumps are effective in winter as well as summer and Caron have developed a system to increase the effectiveness of this technology.
Benefits of Air Source Heat Pumps
-
Air source is typically 400% efficient, so for every 1Kw of energy put in the system it provides 4KwW of heating. Our new technology systems are up to 500% efficient. providing up to 25% more free heat. than conventional systems.
-
Significant cost savings compared to other fuels, and running costs for electricity may be further offset by integrating this with other alternative energy systems providing free heating and electricity once you have recovered your initial investment.
-
They take less room than Ground Source heating and are easier to install.
-
Reduces your carbon footprint, no harmful emissions or pollutants.
-
Alternative energy systems can improve overall scoring for 'Energy Performance Certificates' which form a compulsory constituent of the Home Information Packs 'HIPS' which house sellers now have to compile.
-
Increases the value and saleability of your property.
-
By the use of combined technology, we are able to boost the performance of our units to achieve up to 600% efficiency.
Suitability
Can be situated on an outside wall of the property.
You do not need land to install Air Source.
Can be used with under floor heating depending on floor covering, or a traditional radiator system, although you may need to install extra or larger radiators.
Can be used as a stand alone or supplementary heating system.
Our exclusive, new generation Air Source heat pumps have been developed to be even quieter than conventional units .
Our individual system design will provide you with the best options for your individual needs. We are able to design and supply ‘off grid options’ which will allow you to be self sufficient for electricity, heating and hot water.
Typical Costs
Air source heat pumps can be supplied from £2800.
Installed system costs will vary from £4000.
Typical domestic systems are likely to use heat pumps of between 8-20KW.
Typical Savings
Savings against existing systems vary but the table below shows typical savings depending on the efficiency and type of existing installations, tariff and current fuel costs:

Payback period may be as low as 7 years.
