Myth Busters...

"Alternative energy solutions can only be used with New Build"

Wrong!, while it makes sense to consider renewable energy solutions when considering a new build or renovation, they can be fitted to existing properties old or new.

"Ground Source heating can only be used with under floor heating and not traditional heating systems"

Wrong!, Ground Source works well with underfloor heating but this is only really effective if used with tiles or marble. Wood and carpet are good insulators which prevent the transference of heat.

"Renewable heating systems are too expensive for ordinary people and small businesses"

Wrong!, they are more expensive to install in the short term, but can be cost effective in the longer term. Also there are grants available and tax concessions for businesses.

"Grounds Source heat pumps can’t  be used with traditional radiator heating systems"

Wrong!, they can be used effectively with radiators, but because they operate at a lower temperature, you may need bigger or additional radiators.

"Wind Turbines aren’t effective"

Wrong!, Wind Turbines can be very effective and produce a lot of electricity, but not all of the time, so there will need to be a back up source or electricity storage facility. Also you need to have a suitable site, they are not suitable for everyone. Larger turbines can produce excess electricity which you can sell.
